How do you know the Demonstrating customer sensitivity

Customers do not want to be pushed into making decisions. However, understanding customers also means appreciating some of the other things that can annoy them.

Here’s a list of customer Do and Don’t:

  • Don't be late. If there’s one thing that makes a bad impression it’s being late. So leave yourself plenty of time to get to your meeting.
  • Do check how much time your customer has. Asking how much time your customer has for the meeting will show that you are sensitive to your customer’s needs.
  • Don't interrupt. Customers hate being talked over when they are explaining something. So do make sure that you listen and only speak when your customer has definitely finished speaking.
  • Do be polite to secretaries and receptionists. ‘Gatekeepers’ like secretaries and receptionists may not make the ultimate decision to buy your services, but they will almost certainly tell your prospective customer if you are rude to them at all.
  • Don't ignore junior colleagues. Your meeting may be with more than one person. Often there will be someone who is clearly more senior as well as someone who is more junior. However, don’t disregard the junior person as they may have some influence on the more senior customer.
